Spanning 8,124 hectares of large-scale sugarcane cultivation in Tanzania’s Kilombero District, the farm is operated by RAI Group, East Africa’s largest sugar producer, with extensive estates across Kenya and Tanzania, integrated sugar mills, and a broad retail distribution network. RAI Group’s decision to join CarboNature reflects a strategic commitment to regenerative agriculture, climate-resilient agriculture, driven by both its environmental agenda and the growing market demand for low carbon commodities products. The farm is fully committed to implementing the project activities guided by CarboNature’s Agro-support team, centered on extensive use of biological fertilizers and a transition to precision agriculture that substantially reduces dependence on nitrogen-based inputs. Backed by major investment in advanced sub-surface drip irrigation systems, the farm is positioned to deliver significant environmental impact through emission reductions and long-term carbon sequestration.
